What is developmentally-appropriate practice?

1. Developmentally-appropriate practice means meeting children where they are. This will require the mentor (teacher) to get to know your child well before setting challenging yet achievable goals.
2. Every child is unique. Therefore, all teaching practices should be appropriate to children's age and developmental status.
3. Mentors ensure that goals and experiences are suited to your child's pace, while ensuring that they provide a healthy challenge to promote progress and interest.
